Greek historian, Polybius, confirmed that almost the whole of modern Italy was then Italia這句話的意思是：希臘歷史學家波利比奧斯證實當時的義大利版圖（Italia)已經跟現代的義大利相差無幾在西元前五世紀時，當時的義大利(Italia)這個名字還只限於目前義大利南部而且是地區名字，而不是國家的名字之後Italia慢慢擴張到更大的範圍等羅馬人征服整個半島後，義大利(ltalia)版圖就到了更北部當然波利比奧斯背書的是當時的義大利版圖範圍是不是跟現代義大利一樣，則是後人進行對照得來的結果。
